3D Constant Cut

Constant Cut is a roughing strategy which allows for much faster machining times than traditional roughing without tool breakage. The intelligent algorithm of this strategy ensures that the tool engagement is constantly kept at the optimal engagement of the tool throughout the entire toolpath. Through this, a much bigger part of the cutting flute can be used, which in turn shortens the machining time enormously and assures a uniform tool wear. Ideally you can use the entire cutting length of the tool for optimal efficiency.

Constant Cut is a highly flexible strategy which can be used for all your 3D roughing requirements. It can machine both open and closed pockets as well as cores by machining from outside or from inside.

Intelligent Step-up

Constant Cut features a step-up function, which combines the optimal use of the tool’s cutting length with the ability to machine complex geometries. When step-up is activated, the tool performs a cut at the maximum cutting depth and then steps up at constant Z-levels along the contour of the part. Through this, the algorithm ensures that the maximum length of the tool is used for every cutting level and remaining geometry. This means that you receive maximum cutting efficiency combined with an optimal preparation for subsequent finishing.

Full Control Over all Linking Moves

You can freely configure the lead-in and lead-out moves of the operation. HSM Performance Pack generates lead arcs with optimal smoothness to minimize the tool wear. In addition, both the ramping and linking moves are freely configurable to match your tool, machine and part.
